Scallop Shell Armchair
-
Inspired by scallop shells, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, and the Greek myth of Cupid and Venus, this sink reimagines the story through symbolism. Its scalloped form references the shell from which Venus emerges in Botticelli’s painting, evoking beauty, femininity, and the sea.
According to the myth, Cupid and Venus were walking along the Euphrates River when they were startled by the Typhoon. To escape, they transformed themselves into two fish and leapt into the river. To commemorate this event, Minerva placed the two fish among the stars, where they became the constellation Pisces.
