Alja Horvat, b. 1996 (Slovenia) is an artist and designer whose work explores the intersection of object design and illustration. Inspired by nature, mythology and decorative arts, Alja Horvat creates contemporary objects that blur the boundary between function and art.
Her practice explores how storytelling and materiality can transform everyday domestic objects into meaningful pieces designed to be lived with.
She studied Graphic and Media Technology at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering at University of Ljubljana and started her career as an illustrator and has since 2020 collaborated with brands including FILA, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Disney, Vichy and Barcaffe as an illustrator.
Today, her practice focuses on developing a distinctive collection of objects defined by engraved surfaces, organic forms and narrative illustration.
